Stunning! That's the perfect word to describe North Island in the Seychelles archipelago. Lush, luxurious, extremely private, surrounded by beaches worthy of the wildest dreams, North Island evokes perfection through its landscapes and caters to the most demanding requests of its extremely wealthy clientele, which includes several celebrities.

It was in this very place that Kate Middleton and Prince William spent their honeymoon in complete secrecy.

It's immediately clear that American actress Angelina Jolie seems to have fallen in love with the place. Having been named one of the world's most traveled women, she sees several advantages to unwinding in the Seychelles. Involved in numerous charitable commitments and supporting various humanitarian causes in Africa, the proximity of the Seychelles, which is part of the African continent yet an independent state, seems perfectly suited to her. Constantly targeted by paparazzi, the seclusion offered by the North Island is a significant benefit for the star.

Furthermore, since two of her children are from Africa and she enjoys traveling with them, this is a way to give them the chance to reconnect with their roots from time to time. In fact, the star has already stated in interviews that traveling is a wonderful way to broaden one's horizons.

Sumptuous villa on the North Island

Angelina Jolie enjoys the isolation of the North Island because she can be assured of an undisturbed vacation, reports... The GuardianThe privacy there is absolute.

It has a population of 148 people, mainly service employees, chefs and cooks.

The island, located at the northernmost tip of the Seychelles archipelago, about thirty kilometers northwest of Mahé, the main island, seems indeed the perfect place for a peaceful holiday. It offers villas that provide a natural environment combining luxury and comfort.

There are 11 villas scattered across the enchanting 2 km² island, surrounded by emerald waters. Besides several coves, there are four beaches: East Beach, West Beach (also known as Grande Anse), Honeymoon Cove, and Dive Beach, the perfect spot for diving.

While a private chef can prepare a meal to suit the client so that they can eat in complete privacy at their villa, one can also go to the Piazza on East Beach, the natural focal point of the island for a refined dinner.

In addition, a wellness area and a yoga center have been set up to enjoy a holistic experience for the body and mind.

Of course, many water sports are also offered, as well as guided boat trips or hikes in the hills allowing you to enjoy breathtaking views.

Brutus

In the Seychelles, there is a strong commitment to protecting the environment and wildlife, including giant tortoises. North Island is no exception. It is home to Brutus, the most famous of all the island's giant tortoises. He is estimated to be at least 160 years old. This imposing tortoise weighs 450 lbs and his shell is five feet long. It is not uncommon for these tortoises to live for 200 years.

We travel to the North Island by helicopter, a 15-minute flight from Seychelles International Airport.

Explore the Seychelles

To discover the Seychelles, one visits the main island, Mahé, where Victoria, the capital, is located. While Mahé has many attractions, it's worth noting that the archipelago comprises 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, northeast of Madagascar and north of Mauritius and Réunion. Only about thirty of these islands are inhabited.

It boasts world-renowned beaches, lush forests, and coral reefs. The islands are granite or coral, which explains the presence of granite boulders sculpted by erosion that dot some beaches, creating a picture-perfect setting.

Among the most renowned, Anse Source d'Argent beach is considered by many in the tourism industry to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Its impressive granite rocks and clear, crystalline waters make it a prime location for practicing snorkeling.
