The actor, now 54, also considers himself a man with deep aspirations, according to his autobiography published two years ago. While he enjoys having fun, he is particularly keen to live with less stress and to find meaning in his life.

Finding balance and wanting to unwind are undoubtedly among the reasons that led him to buy a sumptuous residence on what is known as the Big Island, nestled in the heart of the Pacific Ocean. Of course, everything comes at a price. This magnificent beachfront villa cost him US$7,85 million (CA$10 million). Considering that his fortune is estimated at US$160 million, his investment is certainly not a rash decision.

His villa is part of the 5-star Kukio Beach and Golf Club complex, located in the northeast of the island near the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai and the Kona Village Resort, not far from Waimea , offering a superb view of the Pacific Ocean.

His vacation home has six bedrooms and six bathrooms, all custom-built. It sits on a 7,000 square foot lot.

The property has two swimming pools, including a 66-foot-long infinity pool overlooking the sea.

The estate is inspired by modern luxury. Matthew himself chose the finishes, including hand-carved stone, Italian Calacatta marble, and quartz countertops.

The house also includes a media room, an office, a double garage, and private verandas. The decor reflects the Hawaiian style.

Big Island, also known as Hawaii Island simply because it is the largest in the archipelago, stands apart from the other six main islands. It contrasts particularly sharply with Oahu , home to the much busier Honolulu and Waikiki .
