Discovering Saint-Barth

The island of billionaires and stars, which is only 25 km2, is located in the heart of the Caribbean Sea, just 20 km south of Saint-Martin and north of Antigua and Guadeloupe.

Most of the local inhabitants are descendants of Norman and Breton settlers. Its population is almost 90% white, which sets it apart from the surrounding islands. How to get there

Gustav III Airport in Saint Barthélemy is quite unique. In fact, it's listed among the 10 most dangerous airports in the world due to its very short runway situated between a beach and a mountain. Furthermore, strong updrafts and downdrafts are common. As a result, large aircraft cannot land there. Only planes carrying fewer than 20 passengers are permitted.

The easiest way to get there is to travel to St. Martin, a neighbouring island which can accommodate large aircraft with its international airport, and then opt for a local charter to St. Barth, a flight which is easily arranged.

The beach at the end of the runway offers a pleasant sight for tourists, especially since it is common for aircraft to need to make two attempts to successfully land.
